ACE UK team

The ACE UK team is based in Chester, UK.

Its role is to:

  • manage the operations of the organisation
  • develop and implement industry-wide projects, including post-consumer recycling
  • support and serve its members
  • align its members on common positions, sector goals and commitments
  • represent its members to other stakeholders and the media
  • build, maintain, and provide expert knowledge on environmental issues relating to the beverage carton and its life cycle


Richard Hands, Chief Executive
Richard heads ACE UK, having been Chief Executive since it was established in its current form in 2010. He is the main spokesperson for the industry with Government organisations, stakeholders and the media. Richard has been involved in environmental affairs in the industry for ten years, following twenty years in environmental management and sustainable development in the public sector.

Fay Dashper, Recycling Operations Manager
Fay has worked in the industry for the last four years as Recycling Operations Manager. She came from a local authority background and now has over ten years waste management experience, ranging from composting to carton recycling.

Fay’s day job at ACE UK is extremely varied, especially as she manages a small, multi-skilled team. The real emphasis on the team is to ensure that as many local authorities as possible are recycling cartons, preferably through their kerbside collection scheme. From communications to exhibitions and direct Local Authority to waste management company liaison, Fay and the team do it all.

Nick Price, Recycling Operations Officer
Nick is a chartered waste manager and his role involves working with waste management companies and local authorities to increase carton recycling through kerbside collections. After graduating, Nick worked in environmental education with Groundwork, followed by ten years in waste management with two unitary local authorities. During this time he delivered changes to how waste and recyclates were collected, sorted, stored and reprocessed to achieve 40% recycling targets.

Emma Griffiths, Recycling Administrator
Coming from a customer services background, Emma has been the Recycling Administrator for the ACE UK team for the last four years. She liaises with the vast majority of local authorities regarding carton recycling and ensures the bring bank scheme runs smoothly. Other duties include arranging baled carton material to be sent for reprocessing, communications support, answering consumer queries, general admin and keeping the team organised!
