Minister supports Sustainability Roadmap for Soft Drinks Industry

30/10/2014 Minister supports Sustainability Roadmap for Soft Drinks Industry

ACE UK recently took part in the parliamentary launch event for the British Soft Drinks Association (BSDA) Sustainability Roadmap.

The Roadmap is a voluntary initiative to promote best practice in the sector. It brings together the whole supply chain to achieve a common understanding of environmental sustainability opportunities and focuses on five key areas: water efficiency, packaging and litter, raw materials, carbon reduction and reducing waste.

The event was attended by industry stakeholders and MPs, including DEFRA minister George Eustice MP, who spent some time with us at the ACE UK stand learning about our work to promote and increase carton recycling.

Speaking at the event the minister said:

"The soft drinks sector generates £7.7 billion a year for the British economy and employs over 20,000 people. This new agreement will ensure we continue to build on this success by creating a thriving industry with a production process that is efficient, saves energy and reduces waste."
