ACE UK supports establishment of new cross-party group in Parliament

ACE UK has supported the foundation of a high-level group in Parliament, which aims to better understand the UK’s vibrant packaging sector and to advocate for a policy landscape which improves recycling outcomes.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Packaging and the Circular Economy brings together MPs and Peers with packaging industry leaders and provides an exciting opportunity to influence the policy agenda during a time of significant change.

ACE UK’s Head of External Affairs Ben Powell joined the latest meeting of the APPG in Parliament this week, where he discussed issues including EPR and the implementation of Simpler Recycling.

The group is chaired by Labour MP Chris Bloore, with Conservative MP Tom Tugendhat and Liberal Democrat peer Baroness Bakewell of Hardington Mandeville acting as vice chairs. The group’s secretariat is provided by the Packaging Federation of which ACE UK is a member.

ACE UK’s Head of External Affairs Ben Powell said: “2026 is set to be a transformational year for everyone in the business of packaging and sustainability.

“Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, so it’s great to be working with industry partners and politicians to ensure landmark packaging reforms work for consumers, manufacturers and the environment.

“The new APPG gives us a fantastic opportunity to ensure that decision-makers better understand the views of our industry and the impact of policies on the ground.”
